I started my development career in earnest on the new-fangled Windows 286\/386, after a brief dalliance (6 months) with DOS and MicroFocus Level II COBOL.\r\n\r\nBut I quickly came to my senses and started developing client\/server Windows applications before it became fashionable, primarily using Gupta SQLWindows and SQLBase, progressing to TurboPascal for Windows for a time, and enjoying HiSpeed Pascal on my Amiga.  I progressed to Delphi literally before it was released, having been involved through my employer at the time with the EEP.\r\n\r\nOutside of the Windows world, I self-taught myself Pascal, C and C++ on an Amiga and even had cause to resort to FORTRAN, COBOL, Modula-II and even DATA\/BASIC in the early years of what passes for my career in the industry.\r\n\r\nApart from an interest in software development, I am a rabid movie geek, a voracious reader, a snap-happy photographer, an enthusiastic singer and occasional bassist and keyboard player.","link":"https:\/\/www.deltics.co.nz\/blog\/posts\/author\/jsmith\/","slug":"jsmith","avatar_urls":{"24":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/af8c7167d4a3b6c6bfe8ddd7977e343b?s=24&d=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.deltics.co.nz%2Fblog%2Fwp-content%2Fthemes%2Ftarski%2Fimages%2Favatar.png&r=g","48":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/af8c7167d4a3b6c6bfe8ddd7977e343b?s=48&d=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.deltics.co.nz%2Fblog%2Fwp-content%2Fthemes%2Ftarski%2Fimages%2Favatar.png&r=g","96":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/af8c7167d4a3b6c6bfe8ddd7977e343b?s=96&d=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.deltics.co.nz%2Fblog%2Fwp-content%2Fthemes%2Ftarski%2Fimages%2Favatar.png&r=g"},"meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.deltics.co.nz\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.deltics.co.nz\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users"}]}}
