The murky (and let’s face it usually quite tedious) world of high corporate finance turned up an interesing tid-bit yesterday on reuters, in the form of a potential acquisition of a little outfit called Embarcadero by Idera<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The key point in that article occuring just under halfway down being:<\/p>\n

a US$425m covenant-lite credit to back Idera’s acquisition of Embarcadero Technologies. Idera is backed by TA Associates\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is rather odd that such news would come out in this way, which is to say that companies are usually sensitive to the way that their customers may react to such news so take care to at least try to exert some control over how the news is initially presented.<\/p>\n

But that aside, who are Idera ?<\/p>\n

There are at least two companies by that name: Idera Pharmaceuticals<\/a> and Idera Software<\/a>, a database tools company. No prizes for guessing which of those two is involved in this deal I think.<\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, comes out of Embarcadero on this development in the coming days and weeks. With the news now out there they surely have to say something<\/em> ?<\/p>\n
