According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/docwiki.embarcadero.com\/RADStudio\/XE5\/en\/FireMonkey_Platform_Prerequisites\">platform requirements for XE5<\/a> this has now increased to <strong>iOS 6<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This something to be aware of.  Even if your application <em>could<\/em> run on older, simpler devices, the <strong>FireMonkey<\/strong> runtime has demands of it&#8217;s own, over and above those of any application you might develop.  Even &#8220;<em>Hello World<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FireMonkey XE5<\/strong> only runs on <strong>Android<\/strong> devices with <strong>NEON<\/strong> hardware.  This includes my <strong>Galaxy SII<\/strong> phone for example but <em>not<\/em> my <strong>ASUS TF101<\/strong> because this uses the <strong>Tegra2<\/strong> chipset which does not include the necessary <strong>NEON<\/strong> silicon.<\/p>\n<p>And now, as well as a relatively high bar of entry on <strong>Android<\/strong>, that bar has been raised just that little bit higher for <strong>iOS<\/strong> as well.  With <strong>FireMonkey XE5<\/strong> now only supporting <strong>iOS 6.x<\/strong> and later, <strong>1st Gen iPads<\/strong> are now not supported either, for example.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">[Estimated Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">&lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes]<\/span><\/span> In XE4 FireMonkey supported iOS 5.1.
