That’s right. When Windows 8 ships there will be NO METRO in the box!
There is as yet however, no news as to what it will be called instead.

Here is what ars has to say:
“From now on, the new terminology that Microsoft is using is “Windows 8-style UI” when talking about Windows 8 applications, and “New User Interface” when talking about the company’s full product line-up.”

In Windows 9 it will be called “even newer User Interface”
In Windows 10 “Newest User Interface”
In Windows 11 “Ultimate User Interface”
